Description
The temple or shrine is a small construction placed at the corner between via Umberto and the lane where the temple is found, in Norcia.
As is also testified by the inscription, it was built for devotional purposes in 1354 and sculpted by Vanni Tulle (Tuzi) with the symbols of the Passion, laid out in unusual geometric, zoomorphic and anthropomorphic motifs.
This singular building appears like a curious re-visitation of classic roman forms, upon which is unexpectedly laid a heavily decorated relief, mid-way between the wood technique and Arab fabrics. Of the fresco decoration inside remains a Madonna with Child.
